12 Year Old Girl Dies in Overnight Home Invasion

It was July 9, 2009 when this young girl life ended during a home invasion. Sadly enough for the family this loveable young girl an honor student at her school, life had to end this way. Only for the family to have to deal with more road blocks at a time like this.  It was when a fellow rider, Ram Rod of Naptown Riders was listening to News Channel 5 and heard of the insurance company refusal to pay for the headstone.  Ram Rod shared with us later how this information stuck with him and all he could think about that day was this family and how he wanted to help them out but knew he couldn't do this alone.  He contacted a member of TBEA sharing this information with him.  It was then when along with donations of people within the community that had hear about TBEA mission we were able to collect $1000.00 that was donated to Mikia grandmother, Ms Shannon Whooten, that she could have this little peace knowing her granddaughter had a head stone for her final resting place. News Channel 5 has been following up on this story.
